Firstly, we’d like to say thank you to all of our guests for joining us at the IT Aviation Conference & Expo last week at Heathrow, and to the delegates we met during the two day event.
Secondly, many thanks to Samsung who provided all of the hardware on the Zafire stand, enabling us to showcase our innovative solutions, for both passengers and users, and whom we were delighted to partner with.
Jonathan Slim, Technical Director, Zafire Limited reflects: “There was a great buzz about the show and it was great to see so many industry leaders in attendance. We were thrilled to take part and very fortunate to meet some great people. The Zafire team took a lot away from the informative speaker sessions, and as predicted pre-show, we were ‘right at home and in our element’.”
Talk of the town: IPFIDS, yet another ‘first’ for Zafire
Talk of the town and creating lots of positive feedback was Zafire’s IPFIDS and mobile solution. So what is IPFIDS? IP (internet protocol) processes information locally providing direct data feeds to the FIDS display units via the internet. Unlike traditional FIDS solutions the ‘System on chip’, held within the FIDS display unit, removes the need to have a PC attached to the screen.
Key benefits include:
- Energy saving – 30 – 40% less power consumption, creating massive energy saving opportunities over traditional FIDS solutions
- Personalised passenger experience – using QR code technology passengers can easily interact with specific flight information, wayfinding information, possible queues etc.
- 100% visual display – sleek high quality screens means 100% of the area is dedicated to information display
- HD advertising – with HD technology display screens can be used for advertising and announcements as well as FIDS information
- Mobile solution for Airport staff – keeping staff up to date and on the move with instant access to FIDS data from any mobile device
